The Musical Journey of a Lifetime

The Ambassadors of Music tour offers talented high school student musicians an unparalleled opportunity to explore the best of Europe, including the birthplace of classical music itself.

This fifteen-day tour takes students and directors on an adventure through five countries, with once-in-a-lifetime cultural experiences throughout our journey and performances for enthusiastic local audiences in historic venues.

Meet Your State Coordinator

Dr. David Fullmer

Dr. David Fullmer brings more than 45 years of experience in music education and the performing arts, along with extensive experience leading international educational and cultural travel programs.

His university teaching included conducting, music education, orchestra, wind ensembles, jazz ensembles, marching band, percussion, brass methods, music history, and instrumental music techniques. He has served as the President of the Utah Music Educators Association, President of the NAfME Western Division, NAfME National Executive Board and NAfME National Executive Committee.

Since 1997, Dr. Fullmer has participated as staff member and band director with the Utah Ambassadors of Music. He has served as Utah’s state coordinator for the last decade, bringing together many of his professional passions: touring Europe, practicing German, working with some of the finest music directors and students in his state, and using music as a way to connect with new friends and communities throughout Europe.

My Favorite Ambassadors Memory

Two girls from our group tried to save a couple of Euros with the automated street bathrooms in Paris. When the person in line before them exited the bathroom, they both jumped in before the door closed. They didn’t realize that the flush wasn’t confined to the toilet bowl – the entire interior was rinsed and sanitized! When the door opened, both girls exited the bathroom dripping wet (but sanitized!).

My Favorite Travel Destination

There is something wonderful about being on a mountain or a beach. It is healing to me. I enjoy being in places where significant historical events occurred. Being where “it all happened” brings perspective and connection to the past.

One Thing I Never Travel Without

A sense of discovery! Your curious energy helps you truly experience the people, places, and cultures you encounter. Arrive ready to learn something new, meet new people, and embrace the unexpected (some of the best travel memories come from the moments you could never have planned). Your efforts to learn about where you visit will also help you learn about you.
