Our Comprehensive
Approach to Safe Travel
Since we opened our doors in 1981, the safety of our travelers has been our top priority. We want our Ambassadors of Music parents and students to feel informed, equipped and protected while everyone is traveling.
In fact, Bob Rogers Travel is one of only a handful of travel providers to have earned the Certified Student Travel Organization (CSTO) designation from the Center for Student Travel Safety. The CSTO certification is awarded only to companies that meet or exceed the 25 safety standards established by the Center.
Our comprehensive approach to safety focuses on thorough preparation, on-tour structure and support, and defined crisis management planning. Here are just some of the processes we have in place to keep our Ambassadors safe:
- A high ratio of adult trip leaders to students, including experienced city coordinators and tour directors who know our destinations well and who constantly monitor local and national news.
- Registration with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), a program that allows the U.S. Department of State to quickly disseminate vital information and updates when needed.
- A crisis management protocol that defines, in advance, the steps we’ll take in a range of situations.
- 24/7 support from our BRT home-office staff.
- Thorough background checks and comprehensive safety training for all BRT-affiliated adult travelers.
- Partnerships with leaders in the student travel industry, like the Student Youth Travel Association (SYTA), the National Tour Association (NTA), the International Association of Tour Directors and Guides (IATDG), and the International Tour Management Institute (ITMI), which enable us to stay up to date on safety best practices and emerging trends.
